OUR MISSION
Global Connections' mission is to build bridges of understanding among peoples of other cultures, gaining respect through their stories, music, language, customs, traditions, and handcrafts --and through intelligent travel.
A significant element of our mission is to partner & Link with the people of the world through Alternative (Fair) Trade Organizations that place their primary emphasis on dignity and social justice for the producers of goods in developing nations. These Alternative Trade Organizations are sponsored by churches or other charitable organizations who:

promote the continuation of ancient arts and indigenous crafts |

provide money for artisans in developing nations to buy materials |
|
insure that there is no exploitation of workers, particularly children |
|
make sure that the environment is protected |
|
import without the usual "middle-man" mark-up |
|
make sure that the original artisan gets the money and that it is a fair wage based on the local economy. |
Global Connections' handcrafts come from artisans in over 50 countries. Gifts purchased from these sources give twice:

by giving meaningful employment to the artisans by providing a market for their products. |
